Ultimate ASMR Starter Pack for Newbies (Sounds, Videos, Tools)

So You’re Curious About ASMR…

First of all—welcome. 🫶
If you’re here, you’ve probably heard whispers (literally) about ASMR helping with sleep, stress, anxiety, or just pure relaxation.

But when you start looking into it, it can feel overwhelming. There are millions of videos. Triggers. Channels. Tools. And the weirdest video titles you’ve ever seen.

That’s why I created this little starter pack—everything I wish I had when I first dipped into the world of ASMR.

Let’s get you comfy.

🧠 What Is ASMR (In 10 Seconds)?

ASMR = Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response
It’s that tingly, calm, floaty feeling you get from gentle sounds or visual triggers.
Think of it like a brain massage—without needing to do anything but listen.

But even if you don’t feel the tingles, ASMR can still deeply relax your nervous system.

🔊 Common ASMR Triggers to Try First

  • Whispering – slow, soft talking, often affirmations
  • Tapping – on wood, plastic, glass, phones
  • Scratching – mic covers, sponges, textured cloth
  • Personal Attention – pretend haircuts, eye exams, face brushing
  • Crinkles – tissue paper, wrappers, book pages
  • Visual Triggers – hand movements, light tracking
  • Nature Sounds – rain, fire crackling, ocean waves
  • Eating Sounds – (some people love them; some hate them)

Tip: Use headphones. Always. The experience becomes much more immersive.

🎧 My Favorite Beginner Videos

  • “ASMR for People Who Don’t Get Tingles” – a great soft start
  • “Doctor Roleplay Cranial Nerve Exam” – personal attention calm
  • “Mic Brushing No Talking” – super relaxing before bed
  • “ASMR Tapping on Everyday Objects” – great for finding triggers
  • “ASMR Affirmations for Anxiety” – whisper + care = magic
  • “ASMR Scalp Check + Hair Brushing” – my personal gateway video

You can search these titles on YouTube and find dozens of great versions.

🛠 Tools That Helped Me Enjoy ASMR More

  • Good Headphones – Noise-cancelling if possible
  • ASMR-friendly App – YouTube, Tingles app, or Spotify ASMR playlists
  • Night Mode Screen / Dim Lighting – keeps the vibe cozy
  • Timer or Sleep Mode – so your device turns off automatically after

Optional but fun:

  • Weighted blanket
  • Essential oils (lavender + ASMR = heaven)
  • Sleep mask if using audio-only content

🛌 My Simple ASMR Night Routine

  1. Dim the lights
  2. Lie down or sit comfortably
  3. Put in headphones
  4. Play a 15–30 minute video
  5. Breathe slow. Just listen.

If you’re new, try whispering or mic brushing first.
Avoid eating or slime videos on day one (they’re… advanced 😅).

🤔 What If It Doesn’t “Work”?

That’s okay.

Some people don’t feel tingles—and still benefit.
Others need to explore a bit before they find their comfort zone.

Try different creators.
Different triggers.
Different times of day.

Sometimes, the magic is subtle. Like realizing your shoulders have dropped and your thoughts have stopped racing.

That’s ASMR, too.
